Padmashri Dr. D. D. Bhawalkar
Distinguished scientist and retired Director of Center for Advanced Technology,
a unit of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. He established the Centre for Development
of Advanced Technologies and there are many inventions to his credit. He has many
recognitions and awards to his credit : the most important being S.S. Bhatnagar
Award for Engineering Sciences, Padmashri in 2000 and Firodia Award
Ms. Chandra Nayudu
A Social Worker, Rotarian, Daughter of legendary cricketer Late col. C.K. Nayudu,
first ever woman cricket commentator and author, an ardent Sai devotee . She was
head of the department of English in Govt. girls' College. She has been instrumental
in starting lot of literary activities in the city.
