Co-curricular Activities

The school offers a plethora of co-curricular activities for the all-round development of the students. These include:

Art and Craft

This activity covers a wide range of subjects. Like making innovative craft items, painting beginning from sketching to all mediums and surfaces.

Dance

The students are given an exposure to Kathak as well as all contemporary dance forms.

Health, Fitness and Sports

Health and fitness are an integral part of education. It is used as a tool to inculcate right values in the lives of the children and instils a sense of discipline in them.
Our tiny tots of pre-primary follow a fitness regime on a daily basis for half an hour, including yogasanas which help them to strengthen their body and in digestion. The same is continued for the primary and the senior as we believe that “a healthy mind resides in a healthy body”.

Instrumental Music & Vocal Music

The school provides light as well as classical vocal music under instrumental music. Students are trained in a plethora of percussion instruments as well as tabla, sitar, flute, violin, keyboard, guitar, etc.

Little Chefs of Bal-Mandir

Food craft is a fun-filled activity which is enjoyed by children of all ages. The little chefs of Bal Mandir enjoy not only non-flame cooking but also imbibe table manners and etiquette through the daily activity of food in school.

School Band and Orchestra

The school boasts of one of the best school bands in India. It has to its glory 3 bands, brass band, Bagpiper band and flute band, in senior school as well as Bal Mandir.

SCHOOL HOUSES

To infuse competitive spirit, students of the school are assigned one of the four houses, with each house headed by a House In-Charge, a team of teachers and house Prefects. The four houses are:


Ganga (Green)

Kaveri (Blue)

Narmada (Red)

Yamuna (Yellow)

House competitions and activities form a significant part of the school curriculum. Participation is encouraged through various Inter-House competitions in creative and performing arts, literary activities, academics as well as sports activities thereby, infusing the members of the house with confidence to showcase their talents and abilities. A healthy competition and team spirit is thus inculcated and encouraged in every child. Houses are allotted to students from class II.

SCHOOL PREFECTORIAL BOARD

The school encourages children to be more responsible towards themselves, the school and the society at large. Thus, a vibrant School Prefectorial Board, assisting the school administration in the formulation and implementation of the school policies true to the democratic norms, is an important element of our school. They are encompassed to share responsibility and are thus groomed to become future leaders.

SPORTS

Sports forms an integral part of education in school. It is used as a tool to inculcate the right values in the lives of children and instil a sense of discipline in them. Students of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar are fortunate to avail the facilities of the Sports’ Complex, grounds and courts. A team of experienced coaches and physical instructors toil hard to train our students to carve a niche for themselves not only at the inter-school and district levels but achieve success at the national and international levels too.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Literary Skill is a highly effective tool to help students converse in fluent English. Many activities, and games give multiple opportunities to kids who get over their inhibitions and gradually open up to speak confidently.

FUNCTIONS AND FESTIVALS

The Annual calendar is replete with innumerable celebrations of festivals and in-house functions which keep the students and teachers greatly interested like the Foundation Day, Annual Function, Independence Day, Republic Day, Swami’s birthday, Aradhana Divas, Farewell to class XII and many more.

CREATIVE ARTS

To enhance the aesthetic skills among students and under the able guidance of extremely talented teachers, the students are exposed to a variety of art forms like charcoal painting, oil painting, water painting, coffee painting, still painting, shadow etc. along with tie n dye, mirror work, fabric/ acrylic painting, screen printing mural work, traditional folk art such as Warli, Madhubani and Rajasthani. These add to the beauty of the school art gallery when eminent guests visit our school.

PERFORMING ARTS

The school comprises a brilliant team of musicians and singers making music the backbone of our school. From a 40-piece School Band to an over 80-piece orchestra called Sai Symphony, the well-trained students perform with various instruments like the sitar, guitar, percussion instruments, drums, Cajone box, trumpet, cymbals etc. with ease. Dance forms like semi-classical, folk dances, Kathak, Odissi with a theoretical background along with Contemporary and Free dance make a visual extravaganza during the annual Function.

FISTFUL OF LOVE

The students of all grades are encouraged to donate rice, grains, pulses etc., to the needy. This is done through an activity Fistful of Love, wherein they bring a fistful of a particular grain every week. This inculcates the values of caring and sharing, which is extended through visits to orphanages, old homes, home for the destitute.
